Coffee House Ep 14 Review

Nothing much in this episode. The main focus was about JS doing a barter trade with his secretary, promising to do a radio interview live if she agree to pretend to be his gf to convince EY the publisher.

The only excitement was towards the end when the publisher realised that JS has lied to her (abt being with the secretary) and angrily reprimanded him for telling the lie. She couldnt comprehend why the writer would find a need to tell a lie, after all the hoo ha letting her think that he is never gonna return to seoul but in the short 2 years he returned and yet still mock her with a story as such. She wanted to know the rationale as to why he would do something like this!

The writer being pushed to a corner finally let on that after roaming for the last 2 years, he realised that he cannot always expect someone else to accomodate him, at times, he too need to do liekwise. So he came back, wanting to accomodate her (the publisher), to do the very thing she had wanted. However, he now realised that what he thought she had wanted may be different from what she wanted now. However if you must know the truth, he will tell her but he was afriad letting her know the truth will only cause an upheavel to her present life. So he posed the question to her instead "Do you want be to 1. Tell you the truth or 2. Continue with the lie. You choose."

The publisher after hearing all that went into shock. As she listened to the start of the radio interview where the DJ asked JS why the sudden return trip to Seoul, she text him her answer. On the other hand, JS who was stumped by the question as he waited for the publisher;s answer saw his phone message alert...He picked it up and saw the answer. "2.".

After thought

I wish he just told her. Maybe I am selfish, maybe doing so is selfish of him but love is selfish.
However, I think he care for her too much to want to ruin her wedding and life for her. yet, even without saying the truth, he had already let on indirectly the reason of his return. How will she ever feel the same again? Never. So he might as well have said it.

I cannot imagine her going thru the wedding. No matter how I see it, she still love him, from the very act that she cared so much about who he is with and that she said she didnt feel too good when she thought secretary was really the gf....

Another long week of awaiting....ahhhhhh!!

Coffee House: Ep 13 review

The first half of episode 13 had me laughing so hard!!! This is another hilarious episode.

JS the writer is back to Seoul! As fate would have it, JS accidentally "saw" his ex-secretary when he picked up a pencil shaven exactly as he would in the hotel bar counter!

I love the hotel bar scene where the writer realised it was his ex-secretary and he kept laughing at her conversation, where she repeated everything from "What are you saving your brain for? Even the museum wont use it.....etc" "Ahhhh you drive me crazy!!!" (when reprimanding her own junior) as he had scolded her before! And when he finally burst out laughing thus spitting out his beer, I was laughing along like an idiot. And when he called pretending to be his "representative lawyer" to play the prank on her, I was hooting away as he had her running around in utter panic and distress she really believed that she will be sued for "plagiarising" his speech! The expression of the girl (esp when she was crying in depression as she searched for legal counsel online) had me laughing all over again!

The second half was more of a surprise twist. Ok, I half expected him to come back to propose to the publisher but I was shocked to see her in a wedding gown ready to be married! I was going Oh NO! Why didnt she wait a little longer!!!! I could almost feel the same level of shock going through him!!! Just when he put down his baggage of his past and ready to embrace the future with the georgeous publisher, why does this have to happen now...? Such bad timing!

Judging from tomorrow's ep from the trailer, looks like he did not tell the publisher what he had originally intended and fob it off instead....I honestly hope and pray the writer and the publisher get together in the end, they HAVE to!!!!!!!!

Hotaru No Hikari S2: Ep 1 Recap

Just finished watching Hotaru no Hikari Ep 1 and unbelievably, both the lead characters still tickles me sooo much! This will hopefully remain as my fav drama series of all time! if you havent seen this, I would recommend for you to finish watching season 1 before starting on 2 so that you can fully enjoy the humour behind season 2! I just love seeing Hotaru and Buchou together! They are the sweetest quirkiest on screen couple ever! LOL

Episode 1 Brief Summary and video

The story goes that Hotaru returned from HK after 3 years work stint. No one knew whether she was still with Buchou. At work, they behaved strictly as boss and subordinate with a bunch of new colleagues.

However, the story developed and we see Hotaru went back to the same house as Buchou. As she happily rolled about in her fav corridor facing the courtyard, Buchou unhappily complained that she didnt even write or call or return to Japan once during the 3 years they were apart. All he got was a miserable postcard!

Buchou then told her that he is no longer the same person as he was 3 years ago and that Hotaru was the only one who is still amazingly stuck as the same person as she was 3 years ago. Buchou told her that they will have to sit down and talk about their unclear relationship soon. With that, he went off to meet a mysterious woman....

At work, Hotaru got acquainted with the new contract worker Senso who said he reminded of a character.

One night, when Hotaru got dead drunk, both of them ended up in the hotel room since Hotaru didnt want Senso to send her home (since she is living secetly with Buchou).

When Hotaru woke up, she was initially happy to awake with a guy next to her, but then it dawn on her it was another man! She jumped up the bed and realised it was Senso to her dismay! Senso woke and greeted her and both rushed to work.

Unfortunately for Hotaru, Buchou was in the same lift as her and Senso.

She tried to hide the truth about the previous night but Senso said aloud as he walked out the life "Nothing happened! You wish!"

Buchou asked her where she went and he was worried and Hotaru lied that she was with another female colleague. Just then, Hotaru's junior called and reported problems at work and Hotaru rushed off! Arriving at the scene, Hotaru assured her junior that she will help resolve the problem and went off to hunt for the boots and "missing" lantern with client's logo.

At work, everyone waited anxiously. Buchou was the only one who had faith in Hotaru. And without fail, Hotaru called back to relay the good news and the project was able to take off successfully! However, the mysterious woman appeared claiming she wanted to see Buchou work and Hotaru was taken back by her appearance....she felt even worse when she see Buchou happily acknowledging her.

That night, as she continued to think about Bucou's question - as in what has she done the last 3 years, Senso appeared and asked why is she still thinking at that question? As Hotaru was making her way back, her junior appeared and apologised for her oversight and that she no longer want to resign. She will look up to Hotaru and aspire to work hard and be as a cool office lady as Hotaru her senior. Upon hearing that, Hotaru was shock but over the moon! She rushed home wanting to tell Buchou the news first hand!

At home, she happily shared with Buchou the compliement. As they sat down together, she told buchou that she had been thinking abt the question he posed her. She apologised for not writing and calling, and that because she is a single task oriented person, she had only been able to pay attention to her work. Hotaru proced to thank Buchou for that, as it was him that set her mind to rest and was able to give her best at work the last 3 years without worry as she believed he will wait for her. Without him and the peace of mind he gave her, she would not have been able to give it her all at work, and thus being able to be praised as a cool senior today by someone else. Thus, she thanked buchou again wholeheartedly and continued that from now on, she will continue to work hard by herself. (as she was mentally prepared for Buchou to end the relationship with her from their prev conversatons)

Buchou then snorted and sid "with only 47 yen in your account? not possible." Hotaru was optimisstic and said "yes it can be done. I shall go rent a room." Buchou repeated "with 47yen? dream on!" Buchou then told her that for the last 3 years, away from her, he had done further evaluation of Hotaru and decided that he wanted to tell her in person when she return that he wants o end this "unclear" relationship of theirs, because he wants them to get married!!!

Hotaru was shocked and fainted! Buchou calmly lay the newspaper to cover her, and coolly said aloud"time for some sukiyaki". Upon hearing her fav food, Hotaru sat up immediately and happily agreed but buchou said none for her. She pleaded for a little...in her cute hotaru way:)
Meawhile, while they had dinner together, the mysterious woman with a little girl called buchou, remakring it was surprising that he didnt pick up the phone for a change. The little girl queried about Buchou and the woman told her that her father must be busy at work...meanwhile, Buchou wanted Hotaru to think about the meaning behind getting married....

Thought I will try out the new template layout provided by blogger since my previous left navigation panel was getting abit too long! Havent really sit down to tidy up...prob will never happen but I shall still try:) What do you think? Prefer this or the previous?

J-Drama: Hotaru no Hikari Season 2

Hooo Hoo! One of my old favorite is coming back onscreen with Season 2! Its Hotaru no Hikiri airing 11 July by Ntv (official site). Not sure if it will be as hilariously funny as Season 1 but I sure am looking forward to it nonetheless! And I know I wont be the only one looking forward to it! They have added new cast to season 2, primarily Osamu Mukai as Kazuma Seno.

For those who had seen season 1, you will rem scenes fondly between adorable Amemiyah and her Bu chou (manager)! I just went Ha ha even from thinking about it! LOL

Season 2 Background

Three years ago, the heart of Amemiya Hotaru, the ‘dried up female’, had settled on Takano ‘Buchou’, and the ‘dried up female’ was supposed to have grown up … However, right after that, Hotaru was posted as a project team member to far-away Hong Kong. She is cut off from ‘Buchou’ and devotes herself to work. Then, three years later, Hotaru returns to Japan after finishing the project. She is assigned to the First Planning Department, where ‘Buchou’ belongs, and immediately begins work as one of the team members. However, both the staff as well as the mood in the company have changed a great deal. The planner, Seno Kazuma, who seems to be a frivolous guy, leaves work at precisely 5.00 p.m. because he is on a ’9 to 5 contract’. Another junior colleague, Sakuragi Mika also quickly goes back once she has “finished her own work”. Yamada and Futatsugi Shoji, who are aware of the development between the two of them, whisper to each other, “Once a man and woman are separated for three years, they will no longer be like they used to,” as they watch Takano and Hotaru.

“A person will change after three years. I am different from the person I was at that time. You’re the only one who hasn’t changed. What have you done these 3 years?” ‘Buchou’ leaves Hotaru to chew on his words and goes to meet another mysterious woman....

So what will happen between Buchou and Hotaru?

Summer Desire Episode 7 recap and review. Ep 8 Synopsis.

Just finished watching episode 7 of Summer's Desire. Still good but a little draggy with all the flashback recaps. It's a little overdone for my taste. Half the episode today was all about flashback which was already accounted so clearly in the previous episodes, thus making the whole scene redundant.

Ep 7 Summary and Review















Summary

The theme for ep 7 was to emphasise on Xiamo approaching Ou Chen to stop making things difficult for Luoxi.

Ou Chen claimed he recalled everything he did 5 years ago (also with help after bumping into and the conversation he had with the ex-driver who was assigned to Xiamo backthen).

Xiamo's intention in meeting him was to ask Ou Chen to lay off making things difficult for Luoxi (in terms of work). She said that she understand Ou chen too well that he wasnt really out to stall Luoxi's career since he could have done it more subtly as he had helped her previously (refering to the slappin video leak incident). So she understood the whole intention of this publised stunt of removing Luoxi as the lead actor was to lure Xiamo out to beg Ou chen to stop making things difficult for Luoxi. She told Ou chen to stop and that Luoxi has nothing to do with their estrangled relationship but Ou chen would hear nothing of it. Instead, he only wanted to know if Luoxi really means that much to Xiamo, enuff to make her beg him.

The flashback then showed us what Xiamo had cruelly said to Ou Chen after her parents died in the crash. She told him then with a cruel smile that she had never like him and was together with him only to keep her stepfatehr's job. However, Ou Chen destroyed the only happiness she had and so she never ever want to see him again. Ou Chen kneeled down to beg her forgiveness and promised to change and stop being so posseisive but Xiamo turned her back and said that unless he die, she wont forgive him.

The flashback rewind a little too much which borders on being too repetitive here.

Then we are brought back to present day where Ou Chen asked Xiamo again if she really had never liked him, and she replied "No, she never liked him." However she did try to clarify that the stuff about what she said 5 years ago about liking Luoxi from the first day she met him was a lie just to spite Ou chen as she was emotionally upset and blamed him for her foster parents death. (At this moment, I still couldnt tell if she said "No" because she wanted a clean break from the past, or because she had promised Simon the guardian she will have nothing to do with Ou Chen, or she said no because she wanted to spare Luoxi's insecurity, or was it really No No... she really never liked Ou Chen? Personally, I much prefer to think that she did like Ou chen before he caused the death of her foster parents. )

The episode then went back to the past again and also revealed that Ou Chen's birth mother couldnt live with the fact that she was torn apart by the man she loved (or rather the man wasnt with her and her father told her he doesnt suit her and he isnt coming back for her) and in grief, she muttered sorry to baby ou chen for never gonna be there for him and decided to drown herself.

Because Baby Ou chen stop crying and laughing, simon suggested a "new life" for the baby and so Ou Chen's grandfather arranged for a pair of fake parents to care for Ou Chen, erasing the truth behind the death of his mum and any link to the biological father. However, the grandfather prewarned Simon while leaving Ou Chen in his care that his biggest concern is that Ou Chen should not fall into the same trap as his biological mother - to be all overly consummed by passion losing their way. Well, too bad grandpop, Ou Chen strayed into the same path as his mum.

Imagine, the whole episode only accounted this little much. A little disappointing eh.

Perhaps they could spare the audience a little flashback, and a little more insight into the personality and emotional struggle of the characters... So far, everything is alittle too superficial for me. The story has good premise, it just need to be more forward looking and less backward recaps. We are already into episode 8 and it's a little tiring with the slow jog to no where. Everytime I see a light at the end of the tunnel, I',m being sucked back to the past. Hopefully this will stop soon by epi 8 and focus more on the "fight" between the guys.

Summer's Desire synopsis for episode 8
Luoxi started to feel doubt about his successful reintate for his movie role was due to Xiamo intervention. He wanted to know what did Xiamo agree to Ou chen in exchange. Despite Xiamo;s insistence that she didnt beg Ou Chen in exchange for Luoxi's comeback, Luoxi's insecurity already started to invade his heart and cause a wedge between the two love birds. Luoxi unable to contain his own security decided to back out of the movie.

Meanwhile Xiaochen has been hiding his illness condition and finally collapse! His kidneyis failing and shows possibly unable to live past 3 months unless he gets a succesful transplant. Problem is, Xiachen is of special blood type ( or something) . After country search, Xiamo discovered that only Ou chen was a compatible match! She went to beg Ou chen to save her brother but Ou chen refused as he wanted to inflict pain on xiamo in revenge for her rejecting his previous apologies. Knowing that Xiamo only truly love Xiaochen unconditionally, Ou chen know by denying Xiaomo the very thing she need to save Xiaochen would send her to agree to anything.

At the same time, Luoxi was embroiled in a scandal with another actress/singer in the media while gossip was rife that Xiamo was trying to "hook" Ou Chen.

Hopefully it wont be too melodramatic but I see a potential going downhill....sigh
