If u are wondering why the silence....I spent my whole long 3 out of 5 days of the public holidays in hospital... what a crappy way to spend my holidays. If it isnt bad enough, it clashes with my Jap paper.
March has been a terrible month. I have been sick since the start of the month and never really recovered well. It's been one thing after another that even I was sick of myself falling sick. I dunno if its the stress of all the things happening around me, or the bad air or its time to pay my dues after being healthy and completely sick-free for last 3 years. Either way, I sure had to make it up BIG time this time round.
Just when I thought I was recovering from my bout of cold, and funny tummy and those sudden on-off chills, I went to have my sushi lunch. Everything felt fine during lunch. Nothing was amiss.
Then by Thurs eve, I thought it was rather strange that I still felt very bloated and full during dinner time...at 7pm even when my last meal was at 1pm and logically I should be starving by usual standard. So I skipped dinner. My whole body was exhausted. I went to bed at 10.30pm.
I hardly slept because I felt like I had gas up to my chest but I could seriously neither burp nor fart...and I was having muscle spasms....but midnite, it felt horrible with the chills and sharp pain. By 2am, the diarrhea started. I thought it would only last a day but hell was I wrong. I had to literally station myself in the toilet the whole nite and day through. Imagine having a run every 5 mins for several hours. How is it possible for my body to expel so much liquid is beyond comprehnsion.... I was like a literal running tap....gushing at max capacity...It's amazing that I didnt faint.
Stupidly, I didnt realise HK Clinic was open even on public hol. So I took the hit without medication for an extra day until sat morn. Funny how the body craves for salt....even though I couldnt stomach any food or liquid without risking upsetting my tummy. I force an apple coated with salt down and drank gatarode to try to keep the sodium up.
By the time I saw the doc on sat morn, he didnt even need to review more and sent me straight to hospital and arrange for all the bloody test etc etc, and put me on a IV drip. Crap it hurts to have that needle stuck up the hand. Yeah, I am a wimp when it comes to needles. I'm the sort who cringe at needles and blood.. I felt small...realllly small like being back to 5yrs old coward relunctantly having her hand grabbed to get poked.... Never been in a hospital before and not eager to be back....
Didnt get any rest even in the hospital since the doc reckon the best way to get the toxins out is to let teh body flush it out naturally with the runs.....so every hour, I had to unplug the IV drip, push the stand to the toilet, do my business and troddle back. The min I lay down, my tummy starts to rumble as I feel the liquid swoshing inside me... Or when I am just drifting off, the nurses come in alternate hours to feed me med and check my temperature since they were getting worried that my temp went up to 38.5degrees celsuis at one point.
It was the most unbearable week and I swear to god, I wont want another piece of sashimi for at least a month, or make it 3. Even though the doctor said it was nothing to do with the food, what I had was severe gastroenteristis (other wise know as stomach flu) , I still think that last piece of ebi sashimi had something to do with my runs since that was the only meal I had the whole day, and I felt sick 4 hrs after that.... Doc reckon the influenza went into my gut and a bad case thus the agony and I prob wont be up and running till another week.
Crap.
It was really a SHITTY week.
Make it worse, they didnt even have cable in the ward! So I was stuck in bed with no entertainment..God blessed Steve Jobs though for Iphone!!! At least I get to read my manga!
