T-drama: Summer's desire

Just started on the relatively "new" Taiwan drama series - Summer Desire. Addictive...

I was willing to give it a shot because it was starring Barbie, who is one of the better actress in picking good script. With 2 male hotties as lead made it all the worth my time.

The story line is basically a love tussle between the 2 guys. Barbie is starring as an orphan girl who was adopted into a normal family. Her life changed the very day she crossed path with Ou Chen, a mega rich guy, whose family had retired her father.

In trying to get her dad's job back, she had waited for the chance to try to plea the job back. That was the day she met Ou Chen where she almost got knocked down by their car. Her spirit and character own the trust of Ou chen and they developed into a couple in school. However, Ou chen is possessive and demanding of her. This began her tragedy as her father brought home another orphan LuoQi. Ou Chen's possessive nature got the better of him and in his attempt to rid his "love rival" by ridding him to overseas studies, he caused a grievous tradegy leading to the accidental death of Xiamo's parents. With that Xiamo refused to forgive him, and that very night Ou chen ended in an accident and lost his memory.

The plot thickens as we fast forward to 5 years later. LuoQi returned to Taiwan as a mega star. Ou Chen in attempts to find the cause of his recurring nightmare and the lady of his dreams also returned to Taiwan. As fate would have it, the 3 meet again when Xia Mo audition to be a singer. Ou Chen felt an inexplicable connection to Xiamo when he saw her. Slowly he regan partial memory that she was the girl in his dreams.

Meanwhile, LuoQi who had been in love with Xiamo decided to confess his love this time to her. However, their love life will prove to be a tubulent affair as Ou Chen comes between them, determined to have his way. However, Luoqi vowed never to be sent away and back off like he did before due to Ou Chen's family power and influence, while Ou Chen vow to repossessed whatever he had lost (as he was under the impression that Xiamo had betrayed his love and did him wrong. He couldnt rem as yet his own role in causing the demise of Xiamo's family)

I have watched to ep 5, and while the initial shooting execution was a little biazzare with all the unaccountable flashbacks and partial memory insight, it got better when everything fall into pieces by the 4th episode. I didnt like the theme song. The guitar opening is an obvious plagarism of "Closer" track. No matter how they mask it, its an obvious copy and the song is worse than the original.

The actor starring as LuoQi is a china guy. I still find it hard to accept his mainland accent. Sorry, I dont like the way china people talk. Its quite grating to my ears. However, to give him credit, it's already rather toned down. The actor looks rather cute in certain angle depending on the hairstyle they don on him.

As for the other star Peter starring as Ou Chen, I almost didnt recognise him here with all the fury and warth perpetual on his face. Most of all, I havent seen him in drama for a long while so his boywish face was still stuck in my head. So it took me a while to reconcile the current Peter with the old boyish one.

I think its a good mix of celeb in this drama. Some people thinks Angela should play teh Xiamo role because she is younger but I beg to differ. Angela can play cute and evil but I dont think she has the same emotional depth as Barbie, who can look so pitiful yet spirit with fire in her eyes. Some moments, she took me back to other drama such as MARS which she was really good in that.

I am definitely eager to follow this drama. It's a good summer TV Addiction.
