Hotaru no Hikari 2: Ep 8 review and Summary

The episode is ok but not that interesting. I did the summary a while after watching it so I hope I rem the sequence and conversations details correctly.

The story kicked off with Buchou coming home to see a deliver box.

Listening to Hotaru mumble to herself, he guessed correctly that she was gonna say its such a bother - the whole marriage thingie. Hotaru saw Buchou and "awoke" from her drunked daze, with Buchou "scowling" repeating her drunken words "that marriage is a bother!: Hotaru tried to escape saying that t was all the alcohol talking and not her:) She pretended in a small voice as if it was the bottle and apologised to Buchou. He told her to uit messing ard and go clean up!

Next morning, Seno asking Sakura to pass the jersey to Hotaru. Seno mentioned that he will be heading off to the site and talked to the renovators before going home to sleep. He added he had thought about what Sakura had said to him, about snatching Hotaru from Buchou. Sakura asked if he is waitin for Hotaru's feelings with Buchou to cool down ( I think it meant something like becoming disppasionate). Seno however said he is only waiting for his own feelings towards Hotaru to ease.

In office, Sakura passed the jersey to Hotaru and asked her to talk to Seno in changing his mind not to resign. Sakuru said wont it be troublesome too for Hotaru if Seno quit now? Buchou listened on and memory of their last arguement came to his mind...

At home, Buchou asked Hotaru to his room and sit down. He started off saying that because he is older, he is more experienced in love (as he is always well liked by girls), he is able to think more coolly and calmly about their relationship now. He showed her the opened book on his bedside table. He explained that he had rushed off to work leaving the book as such. The "Him" in the past would never have done this, leaving a mess. It was because of Hotaru's influence that made him do these. However he also see it as a form of personal growth. Hotaru exclaimed if she had led Buchou astray with her bad habits. Buchou said that over time, she had indeed influenced him and changed him over time and it was good. In the past, if he should have been the young passionate guy he was then, he would have grabbed hotaru and pushed her to the bed. Hotaru was shocked but Buchou assured her the "monster" had gone on holiday and she is safe. He added that with Hotaru, his heart feels full and his life colourful and happy, and he cherish her existence, and no matter what, she will always be the woman he love and the woman for him, even if there are moments where he may "look at other woman." since he is a man afterall. Hotaru who was initially over the moon went "chey" in the end hearing that.

As they are packing, Buchou told Hotaru that it is about time that he should meet her parents on pretext of their upcoming wedding, and tell the about the wonderful man he has met. Buchou said she had better go contact her family before she starts to find it a bother. Hotaru said as such she had better tell her elder sister. Buchou was suprised to hear that she even had a sister. Hotaru said even though her sister lived nearby but they dont stay in contact often as she is lazy. Buchou commented to think someone else suffering the same plight as him... Hotaru shared that despite their infrequent contact, her sister did tell Hotaru to look her up if she ever need help or anything. Hotaru called her sister to inform about the wedding news and about Buchou's request to meet the parents. However the sister say dont bother as the parents know how hotaru is like (findng everything a bother) and it was ok.

Sachiko returned work one day earlier than planned. She too recall the conversation she had with Shouji, with him asking her if she wont regret quitting after marriage. When Hotaru saw her, she asked if she could seeked her advice about somethng. Sachiko said alrite but she is meeting Natsu and if it is ok, Hotaru could come along. During teh meal, Natsu said alot of preparation work and troublesome things to do for wedding preparation. Both Sachiko and Hotaru was surprised. However, Sachiko reminded Hotaru that for Buchou, she must endure it and put up with it as afteerall, they are both working in the same company, and that Buchou is after her manager.

With that thought in mind, Hotaru changed her attitude and was more proactive about the whole wedding prep matter surprising Buchou. She proposed to check the auspicious dates and match their schedule to do all the prep work (eg: meet parents, gown trial, pick ring etc) At the same time, Hotaru's sister called to meet Buchou and said that she had previously insisted Hotaru to save money in a regualr deposit (as the sister know she will spend all if no one watch over her). She passed the bankbook to Buchou for the wedding. He tried to explain that he had to meet Hotaru's parent as this is not his first marriage but the sister said it is ok as they all trust Hotaru and her choices. So it was not necessary for him to insist on meeting the parents such an old fashion thingie (same thing as hotaru had said) as they will be fine.

At home Hotaru read wedding magazine to find out the things involved. Buchou sat her down and said she prob will meet with the most troublesome thing in her life. She said she understand and he was surprised as it was a tedious thing. Hotaru said she understand. Buchou said really its ok? She said yes and asked to plan the schedule now as otehrwise she will find it a bother later. Buchou went ahead as she requested. She actively circled the date and decided promptly surprising Buchou.

The next day in the lift, when Hotaru found out that Seno design plan had to change as the cost could not cover taking the wall down, she spend all her time recalculating the cost to try to fit in the original design with the corridor open air coffee shop theme as she knew Natsu really wanted it. She pleaded to delay stariing of work so she can look for other options. Seno got mad at her and asked why must she keep insisting on the impossible when both himself and Natsu already understood. However, Hotaru persist in her ways and she ended up missing and forgetting the wedding gown appointment, leaving Buchou alone waiting....

At home, she bowed and apologised to Buchou but he said it was ok as he had already heard about it as another staff had called him. He asked if he should try to help but Hotaru said she prefer not to bother him for work as well and she can handle it. Buchou joking said that yeah, she only want to trouble him with private matters....Meanwhile Buchou mentioned about meeting the parents, and wondered where will be a good venue. Hotaru said forget it as they wont care and at home is fine, plus its so troublesome. However Buchou inisisted it it only right to have both families meet up in a nice place as part of the formality. When Hotaru realised it was for Buchou, she started grumbling its all a hassle and forget it. Buchou told her to stop her antics and get back to talk properly. She said she had thought it was for Buchou which is why she tried so hard but if it was her parents they wont care. Buchou said she must listen to him this time but she said its a marriage between him and her and not her parents. Thinkg about what he said, Hotaru called Buchou to apologise again, and he asked if she is lying comfortably in bed while apologisong. She got up in shock asking how did he know. She then said she is sorry and will do what he said. he asked her ring size but she said M. He said she should come along as M is for clothes not ring. Then Hotaru said she didnt call him in Hk was because she will miss him and want to be by his side when she hears his voice. Buchou said, in Hk she cannot fly to him immediately. He asked if she is now heading to his room? Hotaru asked if the "leacherous monster" is there? Buchou laughed and said perhaps it is back from its holiday and Hotaru ran back to his room.

The next day, Hotaru tried asking all the renovators she knew but to no avail. However that nite, Seno sent her an sms that he had found one willing to do it. Hotaru dashed down to the site to see Seno and the renovator in time. Seno explained that the renovator wanted to try starting up his biz away from his father shadows and thus was willing to take the project regardless of cost. The renovator said rather he liked seno's design. Seno explained he had found the guy thru someone he knew in university and offered beer to her, quoting her statement that beer taste the best after a day hardwork. Hotaru said she didnt do anything to help but seno said that it was her preserverence that had motivated him to also persist on. As they chatted, Seno shared that the senior who recommended the renovator had asked him to consider joining him in New York for some design work. He said after all it is about time that he should learn to settle down properly and form some life rountine. Hotaru said he is still young afterall.

Meanwhile Hotaru got drunk and slept at Natsu worksite. Buchou was waiting for her at the ring shop as they had earlier agreed to go together to make sure they got the right size. Natsu tried to explain why Hotaru was there but Buchou asked to talk to Hotaru and asked her to be there. Just before Hotaru was rushing off, Seno got injured and they all rushed off to hospital. Buchou ended up alone again...

When Hotaru got home, she apologised again. Saying that they had got too happy, drunk too much and fell asleep, plus she didn mean to miss the ring appointment but that Seno had gotten injured. Buchou said Seno should be alright right? Hotaru explained because Seno had also hurt his head so they stayed on to ensure the examination reveals his head is not injured too. Buchou asked if Hotaru was drinking "with seno?" Hotaru said the 3 of them with Natsu. Buchou said "she is not that kind of woman. Natsu is not the sort to drink, get drunk and not go home. She must have lied to try to cover for you."

Then Buchou got up and said that "let's live seperately." Hotaru asked why, why should it be so? Buchou said it wasnt her fault, but it was his problem. "Hotaru was shocked. She questioned Buchou what problem and why is it his problem, shouldnt it be their probem, as they had agreed for them to solve together? She said she didnt understand and that he should explain things clearly and better. "Like in the past, to explain things gently, or coolly"

Buchou retorted that "it is preceisely that I cannot expplain it well, which is why i need to be alone to think quietly for a while. But dont'e worry, I will come back.I dun dislike you." That said, Buchou turned and left.

Meanwhile, Shouji was also apologising to Sachiko. it looks like he was also leaving. Sachiko askd what happened and why was he going away for 3 days 2 nite privately and why was he apologising. Shouji didnt say anything except to apologise...

Alone and feeling sad, Hotaru heard a voice mail. it was her sister.She said her parents are overjoyed at her wedding news and that when they heard she will have a proper wedding ceremony and reception, they said they had never dreamt they would be able to see Hotaru in a wedding dress. They sound really happy over the phone!
As expected, all parents will wish to see their own daughter becoming (dressed as) a bride! Takano san is truly a serious and considerate man, its wonderful. You have indeed found a really great guy who not only think about you, but for your family too! I look forward to both families meeting as such!" Hearin all that, Hotaru cried.

As she got up and into the living room, she spotted the box. She opened it and saw the proposal ring. When she opened the card, it simply stated to Hotaru, from Buchou.Hotaru cried even harder....
